Itinerary

Day 1 - Reporting at Rumsu Base Camp in Manali (6,600 ft)

  • Reach Rumsu base camp by 10 AM.
  • Freshen Up and Registration on arrival.
  • Acclimatization walk to Pulag village.
  • Orientation for the trek in the evening.
  • Overnight stay at Rumsu base camp.

Day 2 - Drive to Hamta Dam and Trek to Chikka (9,500 ft | 3 km | 2-3 hrs)

  • Commence the day with a Jeep ride for Hamta Dam, the starting point of the trek.
  • The trek to Chikka starts from the Dam and takes around 2-3 hours to complete it.
  • Chikka represents one of the most majestic experiences of river side camping surrounded by huge mountains and waterfalls.
  • Overnight stay in tents at Chikka.

Day 3 - Chikka to Balu ka Ghera(11,900 ft | 7 km | 4-5hrs)

  • Commence the trek by 7 AM for Balu Ka Ghera camp after breakfast.
  • The initial part of the trek goes through the bank of the river crossing a few rock boulders followed by a river crossing.
  • The trek happens to be a moderate level as it goes above tree line scaling to an altitude of 11,900 feet.
  • Balu ka Ghera is a large plain on the bank of the river and camping at this spot is a dream in reality.
  • One can spot Indrasan, the highest peak of Manali valley from here.
  • Overnight stay in tents at Balu Ka Ghera Camp.

Day 4 - Balu Ka Ghera to Shia Goru via Hamta Pass (14,200 ft | 8 km | 9 hrs)

  • Start early by 4 am for the pass to take advantage of hard snow.
  • The trek starts with a moderate climb for 4 hrs until one reaches the Pass at 14,000 ft.
  • The aerial views of Spiti valley from Hamta Pass are quite breathtaking.
  • The descent from the pass falls steep and takes around 4 hours to reach Shia Goru Camp (12,800 ft).
  • Overnight stay in tents at Shia Goru.

Day 5 - Shia Goru to Chatru (10,900 ft | 4 kms trek and 46 kms jeep ride | 8-9 hrs)

  • The day starts after morning breakfast for Chatru and takes around 3 hours.
  • Once at Chatru, after some hot lunch, continue with a jeep ride(3 hr) for Chandratal.
  • Chandratal at 14,280 feet never fails to impress one from its stunning beauty and the view of the amazing mountain landscapes surrounding it.
  • Ride back to Chatru for overnight stay.

Day 6 - Chatru to Manali and Departure (6,500 ft | 65 kms jeep ride | 4 hrs)

  • Start the day in a bit of a relaxed way, for we would be left with just a ride to take us back to Manali.
  • The ride from Chatru to Gramphoo falls off-road followed by the traverse through the famous Atal Tunnel to Manali.
  • Departure from Manali by 3 PM.

  1. You can book your tour with us at 20% advance to get the confirmation.
  2. Confirmation will be expedited within 24 hours (one working days) after the booking amount.
  3. Balance payment is to be made on arrival at the pickup location before the commencement of the tour.

Cancellation Policy

Make your booking 15 days prior in advance. If you cancel the trek due to any reason, it is mandatory to notify us. Cancellation charges will only be effective from the date we get your request to cancel the trek.
If the trek gets cancelled from our side due to any reason (heavy snowfall, rainfall, natural disaster etc.) then the refund will not be initiated but we will arrange another trek.
Note :- If your trek starts once, and in between 2 or 4 days at the time of the trek, the weather gets bad or the trek route is closed for some reason due to which the trek cannot be done, then the company will not refund the any money to you.

  1. All the preparations of the company are behind this, for which you cannot blame the company.
  2. The company can suggest some other good and safe trek for you at that time – which will be done at the same cost.
  3. And if it does not happen near that place then it would be better to cancel the trek.
  4. Trek On India can do this for you by deducting the payment for the number of days you trekked and giving you a voucher or coupon code for 1 year
  5. You can use a Voucher or Coupon Code for another trek within 1 year
  6. If for any reason you return from the trek at the time of the trek, then no payment will be refunded to you.
  7. And if you have booked a trek of 6 days and if you have completed 5 days then you cannot ask for a refund of 1 day.

The cancellation charges are as follows –(Bank charges deducted are not Refundable)

  1. Up to 30 Days – 90% cost is Refundable
  2. Between 21 to 30 Days – 50% cost is Refundable
  3. Less than 20 Days – No Refund

What is the best time for Hampta Pass Trekking?

Hampta Pass trekking is one that can be done any time regardless of the season. Still the most suitable to enjoy each moment of the trek are the months from Mid June to September . During this time, the temperature level will be in an average of 13 to 18 degree Celsius during day time and it drops to a low of 0 degree Celsius at night.
In October, the temperature drops down ever more. June has a special place in Hampta Pass trekkers’ mind and the reason behind it is the snow. So, a lot of adventure lovers have pointed out that mid June can be considered as the best time to do a thrilling trek to Hampta Pass.

How to reach Hampta Pass?

To reach the Hampta pass, you would first need to reach the base camp of the trek. You can drive or take a cab from Manali to Jobra, which is the base of the Hampta Pass Trek. It is about 18 KM away and will take around 2 hours to reach. After that, you can start your 2-day trek to the Hampta Pass. You will be walking and hiking for a total of 35 KM to the pristine valleys.

How is the weather at Hampta Pass?

Almost moderately warmer climate can be experienced at Hampta Pass if you choose June and July and the day temperature varies from 13 to 18 degree Celsius and it falls into 0 to 7 degree Celsius at night. When it comes to September, the climate will become colder with slightly lower temperature during day time as well as at night. There will be snow fall at different points on the trek till early days of July and if it is raining, then the snow will melt away.

How long is Hampta Pass Trek?

The Hampta pass trek is about 35 KM long and takes you to the beautiful segments of the Dhauladhar range. The trek begins from Manali and takes you to the Chikka that is located at an elevation of 10,000 ft. above the ground. On the second day, you can head to Balu ka Khera for about 5 hours where you can take a look at the snow laced displays. On the final day, you will be heading to Siaguru that will be your final camping destination. From here you can drive to Chadar Tal and gape at the constellations along with the stellar views of nature.

What is the total trekking distance of the Hampta Pass Trek?

The total trekking distance of the Hampta pass trek is about 35 KM that is to be covered on foot. The circuit of the trek is as follows: Manali – Jobra – Jwara – Balu ka Gera – Hampta Pass – Shea Goru – Chatru Manali. For this trek, you will need four active days in which you can complete the entire trek.
